Beer Tap Decals

Decal was a craze mania in the late 19th century. At that time, the term ‘decal’ refers to the mass-produced art transfer. As a manufactured product, it consisted of the artwork printed on the upper side of a release paper or film backing stock, temporarily affixed by a typically water or heat soluble adhesive. Decals are produced, shipped, and stored in this composite state. When applied, only the adhesive-backed artwork remains, affixed to its desired substrate.

The term- ‘decal’ is a colloquial use of the word- ‘decalcomania’ which refers to the technique by which engravings and prints are transferred onto another material like pottery, glass, ceramic, metal, and other fine smooth surfaces.

In the print and packaging industry, the term ‘decal’ refers to a plastic, cloth, paper, or ceramic substrate that has printed design, pattern, or image that can be transferred onto another surface upon contact usually with the aid of head or water.

With the emergence manufacturing variations, the term- ‘decal’ became interchangeably used to refer to- 1) the traditional water-slide or water-dip, with the artwork screen-printed on water-resistant paper coated with a layer of water-soluble adhesive; and 2) a dry peel-and-stick format using a standard adhesive. The later one is technically not a decal as there is no ‘art transfer’ in it but rather an adhesive-backed label known as a sticker.

Stickers are a piece of material with one side bearing inscriptions, graphics, or pictures and the other side filled with adhesive. The adhesive part is covered with glossy material which can be peeled-off when the sticker is to be attached onto another surface. Most stickers come in printed paper, plastic, vinyl, or other material with temporary or permanent pressure sensitive adhesive on one side.

Practically all beer tap tops decals Brisbane nowadays are stickers. In the past, stickers have typically been placed on a paper backing and made into sheets with other stickers and or individually. Now, they can be made from several materials including pet and vinyl making them more durable for outdoor usage. The self-adhesive vinyl used to create stickers is water resistant, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor use including damp and humid environments.

One of the popular decals nowadays are beer tap tops decals Brisbane. A beer tap is a valve, specifically a tap, for controlling the release of beer. While other kinds of tap may be called faucet, valve or spigot, the use of tap for beer is almost universal. The word- ‘tap’ was originally coined for the wooden valve in traditional barrels. It referred to a solid wood stopper used to plug the hole in a barrel, so as to contain the contents. The shape was identical to a taproot, from which the name derived.

Most beer tap tops decals Brisbane nowadays are made of resin which makes the tap designs very attractive giving the product competitive edge over other products. Resin beer top tap includes a raised, three-dimensional surface with a high gloss finish. This domed finish provides an effective, eye catching appeal thereby presenting the brand at its best.
